WONDERLAND || A Plymouth Blog Meet

Though I’m in Plymouth every weekend, this was my first ever Plymouth Blog Meet. Organised by Little Ellie Mae, the theme for the event was WONDERLAND, and just about everything there was a pretty nod towards it.

Heading out into the sunshine for the Cremyll ferry over to Mount Edgcumbe was lovely for a Saturday afternoon. Adam was working, so I had the morning to myself and an afternoon that promised a dose of inspiration from wonderful local bloggers.

As I had not met anyone going, I spent much of the short ride across the water scoping out who may or may not be a blogger. Note: Nicely dressed women with DSLRS were a likely bet.

The Orangery is such a lovely venue for any event, and Ellie had reserved one end of it for our gathering, including thoughtfully themed tables, a beautifully presented display from the ladies at Origins and No7 and a table covered in prizes, goody bags and cupcakes.

Initially I was sat with Lorna, Evie and Megan, which was great to get to know them and we chatted all things blogging, life and Plymouth. After a while people started moving around and I tried to chat to every single person there – quite a difficult task as there were loads of us!

This was followed by a consultation with Origins, including trying out their air stimulated face wash (which was amazing) and the drink up moisturiser that has the best scent of any I’ve ever tried!

The lady from No7 was equally helpful – especially for this makeup noob! She did a colour match test of my skin tone, followed by a lipstick recommendation and a goody bag of samples. For someone that’s owned the same bottle of foundation for 4 years and is still only halfway through it (I know, I know) it was really interesting to learn a bit more!

Everyone enjoyed the delicious canapes, took the world’s most photos in ways only bloggers can and Ellie ran a prize giving using raffletickets we received when we first arrived. I didn’t win, but did pull out a golden ticket which bagged me some decent sized origin samples that have already come in useful!

The best bit about going to blog meets is discovering new local blogs (and bloggers) as well as finally putting faces to blogs I already follow! Surprisingly this happened in reverse when Emily from May to October came over to introduce herself. It was great to meet her after chatting on the internet for some time!

Similarly to the Cornish Bloggers meet ups, there was a really friendly and supportive atmosphere, without any sense of competition or rivalry. It’s funny how with just one common interest between all of us, our blogs, there is so much to talk about that other non-bloggers don’t quite get. The whole afternoon was really lovely and despite persuading Lorna to sit outside on the ferry back and getting rained on (typical!), I definitely know there will be a good number of similar bloggers I will meet up with in Plymouth again.
