My Favourite Blogs #4 – The Cornish Life

I’ve got a treat for you today, in the form of a Q&A session with the lovely Anna at The Cornish Life. As one of the first blogs I originally came across when I started writing my own, she has continuously provided entertainment, blog support, and as another blogger described- loads of buzz feed style lists. These include everything from her enviable life in Cornwall, her gorgeous French Bulldog Pepper and so many other useful hints and tips about life in general. Anna is immediately so likable, both through her blog and talking to her outside of it and I’m really excited to meet her in the next few weeks! She also recently included me in a link up post with a fab community of Cornish bloggers (you may remember it from the Cornish Beaches post I added to here and the overall winning beaches that Anna collated here).

1. How would you sum up your blog?
The Cornish Life is essentially a documentation of things in my life and head…but mainly about living in this beautiful county they call Cornwall. You’ll find a lot of stuff about my French Bulldog puppy, and restaurant/cafe reviews on there, because damnit, I just love dogs and food!

2. What’s your favourite thing about living in Cornwall?

I actually recently wrote a blog post about 10 Reasons Why I Live in Cornwall, but if I had to pick one favourite it would definitely be being close to the coastline. How can you beat the beaches here? They’re incred.

Also how do people with dogs cope in other parts of the country? Where do they take their hounds at the weekend?? It baffles me.

3. Where do you dream of seeing yourself in 5 years time (career and general life)?

Gah! I actually wrote a 5 year plan back in January (I know, I’m sad like that), but I looked at it the other day and was like “oh…well that’s totally changed now”. And I’m sure my aims & life goals will probably change again in 6 months time… I’m kinda fidgety like that.

I’m gonna go with a pretty standard response and say I wanna earn a decent amount of money and add a kick-ass extension to my house. I also want to learn how to watercolour…

4. Describe your ultimate meal (starter, main and pud)?

I love that this question is here, but the problem is I’m going to struggle to answer this because I love pretty much all food ever. Alas, I shall give it a go:

Starter: Grilled halloumi with a lime, kiwi & chili sauce Okay that was stolen straight from the Gourmet Burger Kitchen menu, but to be fair that’s my favourite starter ever!

Main: Tesco Finest chipolata sausages with sweet potato fries and apple slaw from Hubbox. Maybe I could fit some pulled pork in there too?

Dessert: My very own ganache cheesecake! Yes, my favourite dessert in the world is something I made. It was that delicious.

5. If you were a vegetable what would you be and why?

I don’t really like vegetables….but I kinda like tomatoes. I would probably be a tomato anyway because people would be like “Hey, you’re not a vegetable, you’re a fruit!” and I’d just be all “Guys, I can be what I like, kay?” and then I’d just carry on doing my own thing as a tomato…

6. Name the book/s that have had most impact on your life?

I haven’t read a book in about 3 years *gasp*. It’s fine though, ‘cos I read like 50 articles online a day, and yes, that counts. I’m addicted to information (it’s a legit thing).

I have, however, read every single Dan Brown book, and if those haven’t made me a smarter, more suspicious person I don’t know what will.

7. In a film about your life, what would three of the tracks on the soundtrack be and why?

First things first, I’d have to have a Coldplay song in there somewhere. I don’t know which one I’d choose, but I’m just warning you.

I’d also have to include Stand Up by The Prodigy. I genuinely have used that as the soundtrack to my life when walking out of an exam or job interview or generally doing something awesome.

I really want to try and fit Alone by Heart in there too, but I’ve truly never felt the emotion that goes into that song. I just like to blast it out sometimes and have a good old wail.

8. If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?

I think every single person on the planet would choose time travel if they could. The infinite usefulness exceeds that of any other superpower.

However, if I had to choose something else it would be to eat everything and anything I want but to never get fat or have health issues from it. Yes, I love food so much I would devote my superpower to it.

9. What’s your go-to interesting fact about yourself?

I quit uni after 6 months. Some people think that’s a depressing conversation starter, but I honestly believe it’s one of the best moves I’ve made in life. I’ve explained my story on my blog, and I can certainly turn it into a decent debate about whether University is worth it or not, and that’s as good a conversation as any!

10. Name three countries you haven’t been to yet on your travel bucket list?

I have a small obsession with China (the language, the history, the art, the architecture, and yes, the food), so that’s definitely high up there!

I’d also love to do a food tour of America (this is where my superpower would come in handy) and visit Norway.

11. What would your patronus memory be? (if you haven’t read Harry Potter – its the moment in your life when you’ve felt happiest)

Awh shucks, that’s a hard one. I’ll probably go with extra mush for this answer and say when N (my boyfriend of 7 years) and I had our first ‘date’ at his house. I write ‘date’ like that because I was 13, so it was kind of just like ‘hang out at your house and watch TV together’ rather than a date. But anyway, it’s a good memory!

12. What is the best piece of advice you’ve got for a blogger?

Start out doing it for fun and see where it takes you. It’s much more enjoyable that way, and the pressure of making money from it can turn it into a chore.

Just write whatever you feel like and make the space your own, and don’t panic about the pressure of page views and comments and stuff; that shouldn’t be the point, but it’ll come eventually.

Thanks for featuring me on your lovely blog, Alice! I look forward to seeing more posts like this about other bloggers too! 🙂
