Onto the next chapter…as a geography teacher!

There’s been a fair few changes around these parts of late. Most notably my massive career change to become a geography teacher! In July, with a shaking hand and a heavy heart, I handed my notice in to the environmental consultancy I have worked for over the last 4 and a half years.

I loved working at Aardvark and QUBE and there’s a post explaining more about my old job here. I learnt a huge amount about the industry, office life, and, well, poo. I made friends there who provided so much advice and support and laughed at my stupid crude jokes.

Having given myself two weeks off between leaving and starting university again as a post grad, Adam and I built the majority of a new en-suite and completed the beginnings of renovation for our main bathroom. I spent 98% of my time over that fortnight entirely regretting ever even contemplating herringbone tiles, but dare I say, it’s SO nearly done.

As university started, it’s been an overwhelming 3 weeks of living in Cornwall full time, meeting so many new faces, and getting back in to the swing of thinking academically. Let’s just say, there have been far more nights exhaustively falling into bed at 8.30pm than I remember from my undergrad…

Life’s changed a lot already and I haven’t quite got my head around the idea that I’m going to be a geography teacher! However , there are some perks, such as diving into the entirely new Fashion World* of a geography teacher’s wardrobe (perhaps minus the colouring pencils and elbow patches…) Luckily, current trends fit very nicely in the classroom – midi dresses, autumnal colours and tights, boots and cardigans are my absolute favourite! I’ve also currently got my eye on this excellent stripey number.

There are so many reasons I have chosen to pursue a career as a secondary geography teacher, but I’ll leave that for a later post I think. For now I’m here to say I’m sorry I’ve been away, and I can’t promise when I’ll be back into the swing of blogging fully again, life’s just been flipped upside down at the moment and I’m having to work out the new order of priorities.

As you will have noticed, the usual gang doing the #BakeOffBakeAlong have had a break for the 2018 season as we’re all zooming around starting new chapters, but who knows, I’ll try and put up some new delicious recipe posts for things I’ve been trying out. I have a head full of ideas for posts I know you’ll LOVE. Thanks for sticking around!
